Gunlicence.co.za · Accredited training
Proficiency is step one to owning a firearm legally. We run it as a single day — classroom in the morning, our indoor range in the afternoon — so you only take one day off work.
Step 1 · Proficiency
Choose the unit standards you need. The legal module is mandatory — every other unit standard is invalid without it.

How the day runs
Pick your books up at the shop, or we courier them to you. The books are laid out so you are never hunting back and forth for answers.
Each unit standard has an open-book test to complete in black pen, in your own time. Manuals are valid for six months.
Pick a date that works for you from the live calendar. Classes are small — that is deliberate, and it is why they fill.
Meet at our offices at 09:00. Workshop, closed-book test, a break, then the Gunnery indoor range for the practical shoot. Results uploaded to the PFTC within about a week.
From our classes
Real groupings, real classes, on our own range at Melcksloot Village.
Defensive series
Proficiency makes you legal. This series makes you capable. Each level builds on the last, and Level 3 is the prerequisite for the advanced courses.
Security industry
Every armed security officer working in South Africa must complete a Regulation 21 refresher annually. Our classes are small and engaging, and we teach peripheral skills beyond the syllabus at no extra charge.
We supply the security industry with tactical gear too — ask us about a trade account.

The fine print
There is a 50% cancellation fee on proficiency courses. No-shows and cancellations within 72 hours of the class carry a penalty fee. Because class sizes are so small, any cancellation carries a R500 re-scheduling fee — that is what makes small classes viable at all.
Every student gets one free re-write of a failed exam. Subsequent re-writes are R500. Re-shoots are R500 per module — charged this way so we can keep the up-front ammunition cost low for everyone.
Proficiency and training manuals are valid for six months from purchase. Proficiency courses expire twelve months from date of purchase.
All proficiency training is conducted by the Gunnery Arms & Ammo Firearm Training Academy and is subject to Gunnery's refund policy. Clients attend of their own free will and must ensure they possess the skills to participate safely.
Tell us what you want to end up with — a licence, a first range day, or a gift for someone — and we will point you at the right step.
