How it works

Three things you do. Everything else is ours.

01

Complete and return your mandate form

We send you the correct form the moment you start. It collects everything we need to build a bulletproof pack. Email it back with a couple of attachments.

02

Give us ten working days

We complete the official SAPS documents, draft your character references, write a concise motivation, and compile and print the whole pack to a standard worthy of the guarantee.

03

Hand it in at your DFO

Collect at the shop or we courier it to you. Follow the instructions on the front — usually sign the motivation, add two colour ID photos, and pay SAPS R77 in cash.

Licence types

There are several types of firearm licence. We specialise in most of them — the most common are below.

  • Occasional hunting — Section 15
  • Occasional sport shooting — Section 15
  • Dedicated hunting — Section 16
  • Dedicated sport shooting — Section 16
  • Business purpose — security companies, hunting farms

Common questions

Competency, explained

Your first competency certificate, applied for after you pass the prescribed proficiency course. Competencies are issued for handgun, shotgun, manually operated rifle, self-loading rifle, or a combination.

For adding firearm classes to a competency you already hold. If you have handgun competency and later want to licence a shotgun and rifle, this is the application you need.

Competency certificates are generally valid for five years where no firearm is licensed in that class. The rule of thumb: renew your competency when you renew a licence.

A Constitutional Court ruling means we can now apply for a new licence to replace an expired one. Thousands of South Africans are in this position — it is fixable.

Dealing with a loved one's firearms is the last thing you want to navigate. We provide a comprehensive solution, carrying the same money-back guarantee.

Our terms, plainly. All amounts are payable in full before we begin. Refunds initiated by the client before work starts carry a 25% administration fee. If you do not supply the required documents within one year, monies paid are forfeited. Once we have started on an application, no refunds are given — the guarantee covers the outcome, not a change of mind.
